“We’re all just walking each other home”
We are Samantha and Jess. Two Irish women, living and exploring on the unceded Coast Salish territory in Vancouver. We have a passion and drive for sharing that which lights us up, in the hope that it may offer some inspiration to you. We are committed to our health and wellness, in holistically navigating all that life throws at us modern ladies. With ancestral wisdom in our bones and a curiosity for anything that may bring us closer to ourselves, we share this space with you wholeheartedly. P.S. We believe in Magic…..
How we began…
These products started as a simple diaper balm I (Jess) made for my baby almost 10 years ago. I wanted something so pure and natural for his precious skin. At the same time I was dealing with some painful cystic hormonal acne and after a lot of negative self talk and many harsh products, it finally clicked that I deserved the same for my own skin. I started using simple oils and clays, and thus began a passion and curiosity not only for the science and art of formulating raw skin care, but also the journey to self, love and discovery.
Chéile (pronounced kay-la) is the Irish word meaning harmony, and to be in balance. Our Philosophy is simple - pure and natural ingredients, in simple but effective formulations, that work in harmony with your skin. Using only botanical’s - the essences from plants, flowers, seeds and nuts to feed our skin.
We do not believe in unnecessary packaging or filler ingredients, animal testing or cruelty. We do not anti age, skin shame or strive for perfection. We create products to support and nourish souls with skin, that we may live in balance and harmony with the rhythms of our lives, each other and our beautiful natural world. We believe in the power of taking an Holistic approach towards health and wellness and are committed to our rituals of movement, play and in consuming wholesome and vital foods. We believe all beings are beautiful and beauty is everywhere.

“The one thing that you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision. So write and draw and build and play and dance and live as only you can”. (Neil Gaiman).
Natural. Ritual. Sensory. Gratitude. These are words that I associate with Cheile – they’re how I feel when I use an oil or a mask, and it feels like magic.
Unhealthy views about our bodies are so common in today’s critical culture. We’re blinded to the true beauty of our bodies and negative self-talk is almost the norm. Everyone should enjoy the feeling of being comfortable in their own skin, and that can mean anything from a full-on in your face confidence to a gentle feeling of ease and calm. I’ve found that creating rituals to appreciate and take time for myself help to create those feelings.
My wish to you is to find that love for yourself in ritual, where you can appreciate the skin you’re in.
My interests range from herbalism to nutrition to women’s mythology, sustainability, creating - baking, knitting, sewing, writing, cooking.
JESS - Founder, Formulator.
And every day, the world will drag you by the hand, yelling,
‘This is important! And this is important! You need to worry about this! And this!’
And each day, it’s up to you to yank your hand back, put it on your heart and say
‘No. This is what’s important’. (Iain Thomas).
In Ritual I find moments of stillness, peace and connection. These moments allow me to gather, reflect, absorb and create. I bring this forward in my day, being present and open to all of life and its treasures (it’s a constant practice). I hope to inspire you to take simple skin caring rituals to create your own rituals, your own sanctuary.
